Spay and Neuter
Indian Street Animal Clinic believes that all pets that are not used for breeding should be spayed or neutered.
We recommend female dogs should be spayed prior to their first heat cycle and after all of the puppy immunizations are completed.
Male dogs should be neutered after all of the puppy immunizations are completed.
We offer LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER PRICES AT OUR FACILITY.
Our spay and neuter surgery includes:
Pre anesthetic exam: to make sure your pet is healthy for anesthesia
Prenesthetic pain control: It is easier to control pain if you start the pain control prior to causing pain.
Intravenous catheter: Very important to have intravenous access in case of an emergency.
Intravenous fluid therapy: this keeps your pet hydrated and helps keep their blood pressure in the normal range as anesthesia can lower the blood pressure and cause damage to the kidneys and other organs.
Local anesthesia: again, we dont like pain and our patients dont either. Preventing pain before causing it (surgery) makes for a happy pet when they wake up.
Surgical Monitoring, Patient Warming, Sterilized Individual Surgical Packs and most of all LOVING CARE.
Post Anesthesia pain medications to go home: Again, we dont want our patients to be in pain.
Elizabethan collar : Some dogs and cats will lick at thier incisions, this will protect the surgery site.
JUST A LITTLE SOAP BOX STORY ABOUT PAIN AND SURGERY.
If you get put under anesthesia and I hit your toe with a hammer, you will not feel it (you are unconcious and under anesthesia). But when you wake up you WILL feel it because the pain pathways have been activated and the anesthesia is no longer keeping you unconscious.
This is what WE do different. We prevent the pain pathways from getting activated with our pain management protocols. This makes a huge difference!
